What is SGI?
SGI stands for
Soka Gakkai International. Soka means value creation. The SGI is a global organization devoted to peace, culture, and education, based on the humanistic Buddhist philosophy of Nichiren Daishonin.
There are 12 million members in more than 192 countries and territories worldwide. The SGI UofT Buddhist Club is a student brach of the organization.
Who We Are
The SGI UofT Buddhist Club is a student group for those who are interested in learning more about Nichiren Buddhism, a philosophy of living.
Seminars are structured in such a way to encourage discussion of spirituality and the practicality of Buddhism in our daily life. These seminars are led by guest speakers who are practicing SGI Buddhist members.
Weekly chanting sessions are also offered.
Here is a list of past events.
