Water drops and ripples. Leaf turns red and falls. Child births and grow. Man ages and dies. There is a cause and an effect follows. Everyone knows - No big deal.

We study hard and get an "A", We oversleep and are late in class, We went to this event and met our current soulmate. We see this job ad and get our dream job. There is a cause and an effect follows. But are there deeper reasons for such effects ?

We study hard but end up getting an "F". We oversleep but someone give us free rides to classes. Why my soulmate appeared in this event which I just happened to attend? Why I was able to be at this right time and right place to see this job ad ? Why I was born in this family ? Why some people die prematurely ? In non-materialistic world, is there deeper meaning associated with each event that take place ? or thing just happens as it happens, totally coincidental, probabilistic ?

and, why should I care ? Would it make a difference to how I live my life by believing in everything happens for a reason, rather than believing things happen just by chance ?

In this meeting, we will explore this ubiquitous law of "Cause and Effect", the belief in deeper meanings associated with every phenomena, which is the foundation in Buddhist Faith. Furthermore, we'll see how this faith in the law of "Cause and Effect" will enable us to change our lives, to transform even our most stubborn negative tendencies and uncover our inner true potentials, and thus we can make big deals in our lives, cause meaningful effects that are truly important to us and people in our surroundings.

Welcome everyone to come to explore the law of "Cause and Effect", and let's all cause great effects for our true happiness.

Quotes

"When we plant the seeds of self- doubt, only noxious weeds sprout. When we limit ourselves with low expectations, the growth of the tree of happiness immediately ceases. The power of growth, of improvement, the power to overcome all stagnation and break through every obstacle and transform a barren wasteland into a verdant field - that unstoppable power of hope resides right there in your own heart. It will well up from the rich earth of your innermost being when you face the future without doubt or fear: "I can do more. I can grow. I can become a bigger and better human being" - life and faith are a never-ending struggle to grow."

- Daisaku Ikeda, President of Soka Gakkai International (SGI)
