Do you have a goal or a dream, but feel you are unable to achieve it ?

Faced with sternness of reality, our dreams may seem forever out of reach. To avoid sense of failure, we may simply not dare to dream.

In this meeting, we would discuss about "dreams and goals", from the perspectives of Nichiren Buddhism.

Is it good to have a goal or dream? What if I can't achieve it? Would it be nicer to take on whatever fates fall on us?

Buddhist faith is the belief in the existence of immense potential within everyone of us. We are encouraged to manifest this potential by living our lives to the fullest, achieving our goals and dreams that are true to us, and to empower people around us so that they can do the same.

While not many people will eventually achieve their childhood dreams, the key is to carry on our ideals and earnestly challenge every small immediate goal. "With our eyes on the stars and keep our feet on the ground". By making tenacious efforts, We can know more of ourselves, our true passions and abilities, and be more understanding to the suffering of people around us. With such expanded life states, new possibilities to realize our dreams, or some entirely new, more lofty aspirations, will wide open before us.

Furthermore, Nichiren Buddhism introduces the practice of chanting. Through chanting, we can tap into our innermost spiritualties, cultivating immense wisdom and courage to challenge obstacles along the paths towards our goals, thus enabling us to actualize our conceptual ideals into realities.

We welcome everyone to come to this meeting to "make our goals and dreams come true"!

Quotes

"We practice this Buddhism to make our prayers and dreams come true and to achieve the greatest possible happiness. The purpose of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism is to enable us to realize victory. The fact that our prayers are answered proves the correctness of this teaching."

- Daisaku Ikeda, President of Soka Gakkai International (SGI)

"A man's usefulness depends upon his living up to his ideals insofar as he can."

"It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed."

"All daring and courage, all iron endurance of misfortune make for a finer, nobler type of manhood."

"Only those are fit to live who do not fear to die; and none are fit to die who have shrunk from the joy of life and the duty of life."

- Theodore Roosevelt
